Dome of Milan

The "Veneranda Fabbrica del Duomo di Milano" is the institution which was founded on Oct 16, 1387 in order to keep the dome's outside and structure working and prevent it from deteriorating. Having that long of a history the stone cutters, masons and builders are very proud to work for THE sight of Milan.
The bishop of Milan Antonio da Saluzzo began the work based on the still today actual construction plan. That time however it was in gothic - lombardic style.
One year later the duke Gian Galeazzo Visconti provoced an important change in the style of the building according to international gothic style - away from the "lombardic" idea giving to the "Fabbrica" the marble of Candoglia.

It is worth having a look at this place if one likes to gain more knowledge about the history of that famous sight of the city.
